I hope that has struck you too. What I meant, of course, was the year. When it comes to self evaluating, we tend to be very critical and rather unforgiving. Well, that is me, at least. We tend to focus largely on what we ‘could not’, ‘did not’ and ‘have not’. I suggest we go a little easy on ourselves, after all if we don’t, who else will? As for me, just to name some of the highlights, I took my deeply yearned for trip to India with greater focus on Rajasthan, and then to Jaffna, finished writing my book and one of my articles was published in the Business Times of Singapore while another was published in Singapore’s ADasia magazine . But, above all, I have managed to stay away from those deadly cigarettes and that, perhaps, is my greatest achievement this year, so far.
But I still feel like I have not done much. I’ll try to live by what I preached, though. There are a few more things I have to continue with diligence, like walking for half an hour every day, eating right and living a healthy life style. Of course, realizing our plans to visit Cambodia and Laos once their monsoon is over, is a ‘simply must do’, too. Hopefully, this time around, we will get in there without getting kicked out like we were the last time. See my post of 16th Sep 2008 :)
Anyway, if you are having a rough stretch in your plans, stick by them, because anything is still possible and come year end, you could be heading the Forbes Richest List. And if you are a pessimist, draw some inspiration from this latest AT&T commercial.
For those of you with big plans, watch this inspirational spoof of Jay-Z’s ‘Empire state of mind’.
